Drumshanbo's Food & Drink Enterprise Engine

The Food Hub is a leading food and drink enterprise asset: a community-owned centre of production, skills, innovation and regional food development.

“Nothing comes easy to a town like Drumshanbo – you have to work to achieve things. I love that mentality.”

Built by Community. Backed by Funders. Proven through Enterprise.

Opened in 2003, it provides over 35,000 sq ft of food infrastructure via independent food-grade work units with full occupancy since 2016. Today, it is home to a community of food and drink producers, a global premium drinks manufacturer, bakery, organic products, training and education, industry networking via Taste Leitrim, food tourism and café hospitality, The Shed visitor experience and study visits.

It supports over 150 jobs and is worth over €4 million per annum to the local economy. It builds skills and careers, shares learning at EU level and gives Drumshanbo a powerful platform in Ireland’s food and drink sector.

The Food Hub shows what can happen when community leadership, public funders, entrepreneurs and education partners build around a shared purpose.
